About me

About me...

Greetings and Welcome to my website!

My name is Ravi Lall. I'm native from Mauritius and I was born on the 8th of March 1988. I'm a Graphic Designer by passion and by diploma.

From editing to creating, every aspect of digital-designing intrigue me, if not fascinate me. My favorite activity remains editing pictures and photo-montage and creating logos. I get inspiration through observing what is going-on around me. I feel that there is no ugliness at all and that this word should never exist. I take real pleasure in exploring and experimenting with images and textures. I like things to be a little messy, noisy and edgy in my work. This is because it offsets the boredom that something neat or organized can produce. I'm incurably inquisitive by nature, and I always want to learn more.

I love abstract arts, non-objective arts, black/white photography and music.

You might find it weird or funny, but I get exceptionally hyper when it rains and when the weather is all cold and grey.

My best comfort foods are Sushis, pizza and dark chocolate - I can literally kill for a bite. Edgewise to this, I have as hobby to collect fragrances.

I ran my Diploma in Graphic Design at Charles Telfair Institute in Moka. There I studied designing, advertising and marketing, which includes branding, logo, visiting cards, letterheads, posters, flyers, brochures, websites, advertisements, stop-motions and some 3D amongst others. I am well versed with industry-based software like Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, Premiere Pro, Flash, iMovie, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Powerpoint. Charles Telfair is also the place where I met the most amazing people: my best friends and my lecturers. They believed in me and motivated me a lot.

How it all started...

As far as I can remember, my passion for Graphic Design started a long while back and I was still a kid by then. Having a PC in the 90's was really an exclusivity when not a lot of homes had one. My elder cousin (Nitin) would come and spend the weekend at mine's. He would spend the whole night playing games on PC or sketching on paper. That was the trigger. I was becoming interested in art while watching him draw. I was idolizing him a lot and wanted to be like him.

While everyone was playing video games, I found NO such interest for them. I got my first copy of Photoshop in something like 1999 and my dad had it installed on his P.C. He was using it for fun and was just fooling around it. He later got a tutorial book. The book was looking really interesting with a lot of images. So I wanted to mimic what was in the book and started to use Photoshop. I was really boosted because my projects on this software were turning out to be exactly as I was instructed from the book. Building on that, I grew more and more fond of Photoshop. I was not the best, but using it often made me more proficient at it.

Far from me was the idea that Photoshop was actually a tool for work. I was noticing graphic design everywhere and I was always wondering how these designs were made and who made them. I didn't know who to ask and always thought the question would be insignificant. Until I was in college and then I took up "Design and Technology" classes for my School Certificate. That was my favorite subject and I was psyched at each session in class.

recognitions...

I have been awarded at several occasions for logo, posters and and showcase display. I am passion-driven and each assignment is done with my full heart.

  • My first (Commission de L'Ocean Indien) and second award (Law Reform Commission) was for a Logo contest that I had won.

  • My third award was for a poster given by the Ministry of Health and Quality of life

  • My fourth award was given to me for my Display showcase by Charles Telfair Institute (My University)

Hopefully it does not stop here!
